How does my donation help?

It helped a family keep their electric connection from being cut off. It helped someone else obtain much-needed medicine that they could not afford. A diabetic was able to get the special food that he needed for his diet. A homeless person got a room in a motel for the night when the Salvation Army shelter was full. You helped a worker without a job get bus tokens for his search for work. When he needed special shoes for his next job, you helped with that, too. Someone whose glasses were broken now has a new pair. And a family who couldn't afford the minimum fuel delivery now has a tank for the winter.

Ways to Help

How can I help?

* Call the office to volunteer interviewing clients for a few hours each week

* Check to see if your congregation is already helping PHP financially; thank the budgeting committee. If they are not, arrange for a contact with one of our staff or board members by calling the office.

* Consider whether you might be able to volunteer with driving persons to job interviews or medical appointments or to reach a train or bus as needed. These needs come up somewhat rarely, but we would be glad to be able to call on volunteers.

* Make a contribution to PHP. It's easy on this website, it's tax deductible and it's a great way to make sure that some of your compassion donations actually reach real neighbors in need, with very low administrative costs thanks to all our volunteers. Go to the Buy A Bulb part of this site to make your donation.

* Contact us at PHP if you are ready to make PHP a beneficiary in your estate or with retirement funds that can be contributed with considerable tax advantages.
